Players form pairs and have a dialogue. A makes a suggestion, B finds a reason not to do it, starting with 'Yes, but...'
Then switch: repeat the exercise but replace 'Yes, but' with 'Yes, and...' The difference in scene energy is dramatic and immediately visible.
This classic exercise demonstrates why blocking kills scenes and accepting builds them.
