In 2010, Cary began his path of improvisation by being thrown into the performing cast of a short-form team that was low on membership and he had to just figure it out as he went. After two years of this baptism by fire, he moved to Los Angeles, CA and studied long-form improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade. This training changed everything! Now he had tools that helped him succeed in scenes more consistently. This began a wave of experimentation, reading, and study. In February 2015, Cary moved back to his hometown, San Antonio, TX with a vision of building the local improv community (still in its infancy) from the ground up. He started teaching free weekly workshops and quickly joined the cast of Alamo City Improv, the only local long-form team and a group of like-minded performers. Since then, Cary was appointed CEO of Alamo City Improv, he helped shape a company dedicated to fostering the culture of improv, and co-developed the curriculum for the Alamo City Improv School.
